Sundae Flea Market in Schenley Park

This Sunday, September 28th, from noon to 5:00 pm, I'll be vending at the Sundae Flea Market at Schenley Plaza in Oakland with about 60 other vendors. Vendors offer art, handmade crafts, clothes, music, and many other items turning the plaza into an urban marketplace. Live musical performances will be held throughout the afternoon. Photos from last week's flea market can be seen here. This event is organized by I Made It! Markets and Sundae Market.

What to do with unused craft supplies

The question: What does a crafty packrat do when they find themselves with a surplus of Christmas crafting supplies they will likely never use?

The answer: Offer to donate the supplies to anyone in their Pittsburgh Etsy Street Team that has a use for them.

The result: The brilliant and community-minded hairycarrot suggests that the next monthly craft night the team sponsors could be used to create decorations from the unused craft supplies which could then be donated to a local charity.

So, something that was sitting neglected gave birth to Crafting for a Cause.

I love it when a plan comes together (even when the plan isn't mine).

Great Car at a Great Event!

I was a vendor at the Steeltown Shakedown this past Saturday and had a great time. Above is just one of the cars that were there. I'm already looking forward to next year and hope to see some of you there!

Steeltown Shakedown

Tomorrow, September 6, 2008, I'll be vending at the Steeltown Shakedown at the Twin Hi-Way Drive-In located at 5588 Steubenville Pike in McKees Rocks, PA 15136 (close to Robinson Township)

This event is Pittsburgh's largest rockabilly and blues car show and is sponsored by the Drifters Car Club.

The event begins at 1:00 pm and runs into the evening. Vendors from the I Made It! Markets will be present from 1:00 pm until dusk. Throughout the day there will be several different surf and rockabilly bands playing, a pinup contest, and plenty of hotrods and older cars to admire.

At dark, the Creature of the Black Lagoon will be shown on the big screen at the Drive-In.

Stop by, say hello, purchase some of my items which range from rockabilly-inspired, Bettie Page, classic horror (including the Creature from the Black Lagoon) to a combination of recycled materials and vintage images, or just come and have fun.

I hope to see you there!

There is a great write up on the event in today's Popfilter from Pop City Media.
